Anti Facebook Project on 15th September- Are you Ready?

The anti facebook project or the diaspora project is coming this September. Before we discuss about it, let us know, what is it anyway? Well, The Diaspora project is an ambitious project taken up by 4 computer science graduates at NYU. They plan to make an open source, de-centralized and personally controlled social network.

Why is it called an anti facebook project?

There have been many privacy issues with facebook over the years. These guys at NYU were discussing about the privacy issues and then decided to build a more secure social network which can be privately controlled.

How does it work?

It connects one computer with another directly without any centralized server. Let’s understand it with the help of an example: suppose you send a message to your friend through any network, the information first goes to that server and than to the person you are messaging. Diaspora won’t have that problem, you can simply connect with the person you want to without any centralized server and that is why it is de-centralized. The software will be some what like wordpress, where in you will have the option of installing it on your seed (seed= computer). For non-tech guys you can even start it at the click of button and take control of the information you want to share.

Since its launch on kickstarter, it is under media scanner and has gained huge popularity. Let’s see if users shift to a more secure social network.
